Good morning and happy Monday! This week is Grandparent's and Special Friends Day. (5/22). The students are so excited to show their Disney Performance! We hope you can all make it. In the Thursday Envelope this week, the third graders will receive their 4th grade summer reading packet on the book "The Chocolate Touch." Also as another reminder, the students will need to bring back the English and Science hardcover books that were kept at home for the duration of the year by 5/30.
Positive Word: Renowned
Fact of the Week: Google.com is named after the number googol- a one followed by 100 zeros!
10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.
In math, we are continuing our study and design of different types of graphs. The students will be completing a in school project as one of their final math grades. The final task will be creating a graph on the computer! The students final time test over multiplication is on 5/30. This is the final chance for students to change their score to a higher grade. So keep on studying those facts!
In Social studies, students will finish their Native American regions lapbook. This week we are studying the Eastern Woodlands and the Southeast tribes. We will conclude our study with a writing prompt comparing and contrasting the regions, tribes, and the different cultures we have talked about.
In Religion, we are starting our final chapter 16. This chapter talks about the Last Supper, the Eucharist, and Pentecost. There will be a worksheet and test on this chapter in the upcoming last weeks of school. Our final all school Mass is on the last day of school- 6/6. The dismissal that day is at 11:00.
In Reading, our final story is by Beverly Cleary, Ramona and Her Father. (one of Mrs. Berrigan's and my favorites!) The students will write the new vocabulary for this story over the words anxious, cross, alarmed, unfortunately, managed, and pretend. The focus target for this story is about problem and solution. There will be a vocabulary quiz and story test for this last story of third grade.
Any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Looking forward to a FABULOUS week in third grade!
All the best,
Miss Taff
