Happy Monday and Holy Week! Today we are attending the 7th grade Invention Convention. We will be voting on what we think is the best invention. We also have Rice Bowl money due today and tomorrow; so please bring in any money denomination that you have collected over this Lenten Season.
Super Student: Lily!
Positive Word: Impeccable!
Fact of the Week: Peep peep… did you know Americans buy more than 700 million marshmallow Peeps during Easter? This makes Peeps the most popular non-chocolate Easter candy.
Please parents/guardians to bring in those Aspire Notes by the first Monday following Easter Break! ;)
In Math, we are halfway through our geometry chapter. We are completing the review today and continuing to add vocabulary to our geometry Simon Says game! We are also completing 4 more math Aspire Reviews from now up until the first day of Aspire testing. Please reassure your student(s) that there is no need to worry or panic about the Aspire and what it may entail.
In Reading, our vocabulary quiz is today with our story test on Wednesday. Our focus skill is sequence of events in a logical order using time order words. Students should know the difference between an author and illustrator and the steps it takes to create illustrations for a book.
In Social Studies, our new chapter is all about the Native Americans and the first people to settle here. The students have read the first lesson which will lead us into our mini unit outside of the book talking about the different tribes in North America. The students will also be completing a STEM project where they need to create and build a Native American shelter based on their location! Lots to look forward to!
In Religion, we are reading two chapters about Holy Week and Easter. The students will be completing two worksheets this week in regards to wrapping up our Lenten prayers and promises and an Easter crossword puzzle- both for points. There will not be a test on these two chapters.
The students have earned a board game day due to raising enough money for the Fun Run. Our game day will be on Thursday! Students are allowed to bring their board games to school on Thursday 3/29/18.
Any questions, please feel free to contact me!
Looking forward to a FABULOUS week in Third Grade!
All the best,
Ms. Taff
