Happy Monday and almost May! We have next Monday off school. This Friday is the 8th Grade Ribbon Mass. We have song practice today. Final Book Reports are due on the 14th.
Super Student: Gabbi!
Positive Word: Stellar!
Fact of the Week: The biggest Bald Eagle nests can weigh up to 4,000 pounds, or 1,814 kilograms!
In Math, we are continuing our study of different measurements. This week we are focusing on mass (g or kg?) and telling time. There is not going to be a final chapter test assessment on Chapter 11. We will continue this chapter into the next couple of weeks. KEEP PRACTICING THOSE MULTIPLICATION FACTS! The students will have a second chance tomorrow to take their 50 question timing. There will be two more chances after tomorrow for timings. I will be taking the best score out of the four for a final test grade.
In Social Studies, we are working on studying the different Native American tribes and the regions in which they lived. We are compiling a file folder project with all our information. This week we are studying the Northwest Coast and the California InterMountain Regions. Be sure to ask your students where the region is located and what characteristics of each tribe are unique to that region!
In Religion, we have completed the ten chapters in Family Life. We are jumping back into our regular Sadlier book. This week and next week we are working on Chapter 15 which is regarding the seven sacraments. The students will be completing a worksheet that lays out the different classifications of each sacrament.
In Reading, we are completing our story, "7 Spools of Thread." The vocabulary test is on Wednesday over the words quarreling, argued, beamed, possessions, fabric, purchased. The story test is on Friday focusing on the skill of drawing conclusions about character relationships. The students will be completing a project this week where they will have to invent a moral to a fictional book that they create!
Any questions, please feel free to contact me!
Looking forward to a FABULOUS week in Third Grade!
All the best,
Miss Taff
