Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a nice and blessed Thanksgiving! We are coming back to school to start off Trimester 2 with many wonderful projects and learning to be done!
Super Student: Jacob!
Positive Word: Absolutely!
Fact of the Week: A 95-mile-long underground river flows beneath Mexico.
In Math, we are finishing Chapter 4 on multiplication with a quiz this week and a chapter test next week. The students are starting to take timed quizzes. Their first quiz will be on multiplying by 0-1-2. The students will be having a quiz every couple of weeks to pass each of their facts. They will continue to take the same fact quizzes until they pass to move on to the next fact.
In Social Studies, we are learning about the five regions on the United States. The students are going to be assigned a different region and will have to draw what that region would look like if they were driving through it. The students will then compose a writing sample about what they would see in that region in first person.
In Reading, our new skill we will be working on is drawing conclusions based on text evidence. We will work on this skill through the story of Home-Grown Butterflies. This is an expository text that also helps us learn different text features. We will be composing nature poetry in this unit as well as working on our writing.
In Religion, we are learning about the Liturgical Calendar, especially Ordinary Time and Advent. We will also be working on Advent Wreaths and our Advent "Tree" of Kindness through our waiting period of Advent in the final weeks before Christmas.
If there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. Looking forward to a positive week in Third Grade!
All the best,
Ms. Taff
