Good Morning! I hope everyone had a great, long weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather and all the great sport that were on!
Congratulations to the third and fourth grade boys St. Christina Football team! You played so well and worked very hard at your last game! I am so proud of you all!
Positive Word: Ingenious!
Super Student of the Week: Mairead!
Did you know?!- Applesauce was the first food to be eaten in space by an American astronaut!
In Math, we are continuing our study of Chapter 2 of Addition patterns and properties. We are estimating sums by rounding this week. Our chapter two test will be approaching shortly. Be on the lookout for that date on the website! Also check under the Third Grade Math tab for parent and student resources (worksheets, videos, practice games, etc.).
In Social Studies, the students are designing their own community. They have to choose which type of community it will be, rural, suburban, or urban, and then provide the different features that would belong in their community. They will be drawing and presenting their new communities to the class!
In Reading, we will be practicing main idea and details with some extra skill practice sheets using Scholastic News Magazine and picture search. Our new story is one of my favorites focusing on the skill character relationships and parts of a story, WOLF! We will be discovering our new vocabulary and listening to the story this week. For every story the students should be reading the story out loud at least twice at home for extra comprehension practice and fluency practice.
In Religion, we are continuing our study of Chapter 3, learning about Jesus' early ministry. Students should be able to summarize the story of Lazarus for their test. They have completed a worksheet in school about it. There will be a test on Chapter 3, tentatively, on Thursday 10/19.
Any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. Looking forward to a fabulous week in Third Grade!
All the best,
Ms. Taff
