Happy 2018 Third Graders! Welcome back! I am excited to start off this week! Catholic Schools Week information was sent in the Newsletter last Thursday. It is also posted on my website under the 'Announcements' tab!
Super Student: Stephanie!
Positive Word: Stupendous!
Fact of the Week: Dr. Seuss's real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel. He was not really a doctor either!
In Math, we are switching workbooks and moving into volume two. Our first chapter (ch. 10) is fractions! It is going to be a slower pace for math from here on out so we really understand the concepts. There will be more supplemental worksheets going home for homework in addition to the homework in the workbook! Keep on practicing those multiplication facts!
In Social Studies, we have finished studying and talking about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We read a Scholastic News article on him, a paired text on people that he had influenced, two articles on the IPADs, and watched three videos on his work and life. The students did a wonderful job on their project about him! Check it out on open house during Catholic Schools Week. We are now going to be starting our famous Chicago project towards the end of this week!
In Religion, we have a chapter 9 test on Friday. We are continuing our learning on how we profess our faith and what that means. We are also recognizing that the Church continues to teach the true message of Jesus. The students will be having a worksheet for homework this week that goes along with our message we learned from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as well!
In Reading, we have a vocabulary quiz on Wednesday and a story test on Friday on our new story, "Here's My Dollar." Our new vocabulary words are tour, volunteers, thrilled, slogan, deserve. Our target for this story is deciding what the author's purpose of a story.
Looking forward to another wonderful week in Third Grade!

All the best,
