Happy Catholic Schools Week! What an exciting week here at St. Christina! There are lots of fun and new activities planned for this week. Please check last week's newsletter or under the 'Announcement' tab on my website for the day-by-day activities.
Positive Word: Seuss-tacular!
Fact of the Week: Dr. Seuss wrote more than 60 children's books! He wrote under different names too!
In Math, we are continuing our study of Fractions. We will learn how to create fractions on a number line and equivalent fractions. This will lead us into next week where we compare fractions and have our chapter 10 test. Please be sure to keep practicing those multiplication facts!
In Social Studies, we are studying what people, inventions, and movements helped shape and change our communities from the past into the present. The students will be working on an in-class biography project on some of these innovators and inventors!
In Religion, we are going to finish up our chapter on different types of prayer. Our chapter test will be pushed into next week so we have amble time to review and reflect on this chapter. The students completed a worksheet on the different types of prayer with me in class. They are allowed to use this on their test. PLEASE DO NOT LOSE IT! They are to be responsible for hanging on to it, keeping it to study, and to be turned in with their test for points.
In Reading, our story is "A Castle on Viola Street." Our skill for this story is theme. The main focus for this story is to connect the title of the story to the ideas and theme in the story. Our vocabulary quiz on the words appliances, leaky, construction, equipment, projects, and owners is on Wednesday. Our story test on theme will be on Friday.
Looking forward to a FABULOUS week in Third Grade!
All the best,
Ms. Taff
