Good morning and happy Tuesday! This week we have a field trip and report cards to look forward to! We are collecting nonperishable food items for Sister Ann Vincent this week. We have our field trip to Alice in Wonderland on Wednesday. The students are able to dress down on this day.
Super Student: Jack!
Positive Word:
Fact of the Week: Presidential pardon of a turkey: Each year, the president of the U.S pardons a turkey and spares it from being eaten for Thanksgiving dinner. The first turkey pardon ceremony started with President Truman in 1947. President Obama pardoned a 45-pound turkey named Courage.
In Math, we are completing the fourth way we model multiplication. We have studied repeated addition, equal groups, arrays, and Commutative Property of Multiplication. We will be having a quiz after Thanksgiving break on the first half of the multiplication chapter. We are doing a math Thanksgiving project on Friday to demonstrate our learning of these new strategies.
In Social Studies, we are working hard on correctly naming and identifying the 7 continents and 5 oceans. We are practicing with computer games, songs, and dry erase maps in class. There are a few extra learning tools attached to my website that the students can study at home to prepare for the test next week as well.
In Reading, we are finishing reading about the Westward Expansion in our story Boom Town. The students have a vocabulary quiz on Wednesday and a story test on Friday. The students should focus on the skill of sequencing the events in a fiction story. We will also start a project of designing a store that the students would open during this period explaining how and why.
In Religion, we are completing chapter 5 with a test on Friday. This chapter dealt with all about the early Christians of the church and the struggles and trials they went through to spread the Word of God to all the nations of the World. The students will complete the study review pages on Wednesday and review on Thursday for the test.
Any questions please feel free to contact me! See you at conferences next Monday. If you still need to sign up, the link is also on my website!
All the best,
Ms. Taff
