Happy Monday to all! Looks like we are back to the warm weather again; so students may wear their gym uniforms and shorts on Monday and Tuesday this week. As a reminder, stated in the policy handbook, students are required to wear uniform pants now and red sweater vests as well as long pants for dress down days.
We are still collecting canned goods for our "Souper" Stadium Challenge! Please donate if you are able to!
Super Student of the Week: Mary!
Positive Word of the Day: Stupendous!
Fact of the Week: Popsicles were invented by an 11-year old!
In Math, we have our first chapter quiz on lessons 1-4 on Wednesday. This is a date change for one extra day of practice. Students should study the review pages on pages 85-86 and the study guide of "Check My Progress" worksheet. Please check out, under the homework tab on this website, for great videos and resources for our current math study as well as fact games for the students to practice with.
In Reading, our vocabulary quiz is on Tuesday with our story test on Friday over the expository text "Earth Smart." Our target for this story is identifying details or facts that support the main idea. The vocabulary words for this story are donate, contribute, unaware, and members.
In Religion, we are preparing for our Third Grade Mass on Wednesday celebrating the feast day of St. Francis. Ask your student why St. Francis is so important!
In Social Studies, we are finishing up identifying features of the three different types of communities- urban, suburban, and rural. We will be completing our culminating project with which the students will be deciding which community they would want to live in and why. They will be writing, drawing, debating independently and in groups!
Looking forward to another FABULOUS week here in third grade! Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
All the best,
Ms. Taff
