Happy March (finally)! The third graders have a busy couple of weeks coming up in preparation for the Aspire testing which is happening the first week of April upon returning from Spring Break.
Super Student: Jace!
Positive Word: inspiring!
Fact of the Week: Kids blink about 5 million times a year!
In Math, the students have a quiz on perimeter and area on Wednesday. Their chapter test is the following Wednesday. The students are completing a review worksheet of concepts covered last year and throughout the year this year to review for Aspire. We have gone over the instructions and started a good portion of it in class. Our next chapter is geometry.
In Social Studies, the students will be reading different biographies about historical and present day women for Women's History Month. They have completed a Scholastic News article and worksheet searching for evidence that supports their answer. They will also be finishing up their Fakebook of their biography research with Mrs. Cour and in the computer lab for class on Friday.
In Reading, in tandem with Social Studies, we are reading "Out of this World, an Ellen Ochoa story." This story goes right along with our theme of Women's History Month. Our vocabulary quiz will be next Tuesday with our story test next Thursday. Our new vocabulary words are communicate, decisions, research, responsibility, specialist, and essential. Our skill we are working on is summarizing the sequence of events in a logical order.
In Religion, we are starting our new chapter of God Calls us to Holiness. This chapter talks abut vocations and our different calls in life as a lay person or as a call to Holy Orders. Students will also be finishing up their sympathy cards for Rosalie this week.
Any questions or concerns, please contact me.
Looking forward to a FABULOUS week in Third Grade!
All the best,
Ms. Taff
